

Public Rooms
The Roxburghe hotel was originally called Sunlaws, a country house which was bought in the 1960’s and used as the Estate office until a decision was made to turn the house into a gracious country house hotel. (click here for a detailed history)
Today the public rooms are presented in their traditional manner and we encourage guests to relax and enjoy the stylish yet informal areas of our hotel. Each room is luxuriously furnished with traditional antiques and sumptuous fabrics.
With seven open fireplaces and intimate seating areas, our public rooms ensure we maintain the comfortable, relaxed atmosphere of a country house hotel. Whether you choose to relax with the papers, enjoy afternoon tea or simply take time out with friends, the Roxburghe provides the perfect setting.
The Drawing Room
A firm favourite with our guests, you cannot help but feel at home in this warm and informal room . Rich fabrics and an abundance of daylight though the south facing windows create the perfect place to relax with friends or read the papers. Morning coffee and afternoon tea are often taken in this room. Chess, cards and board games are available for guests use.
The Library
This is a uniquely charming and versatile room set just off the entrance hall. As well as containing some of the Duke's collection of fine books, the Library is a bright and refreshing space where guests can enjoy lunch. In the afternoon and early evening the Library transforms into a soothing bar atmosphere where relaxing with a drink to read or chat with friends is the order of the day.
As the evening wears on, after dinner drinks and crackling fires transform the Library into a warm and intimate setting where you can savour our extensive choice of malt whiskies.
Conservatory
Light and airy, the Conservatory overlooks the garden. This spacious area is ideal for private parties and weddings with
doors opening onto the hotel's gardens and sunlit terrace, perfect for pre dinner drinks on the lawn and private receptions.
A maximum of 64 guests can be entertained in our Conservatory for a reception, lunch or dinner.
Dining Room

The stylish Dining Room has won many awards. The large bay window overlooks the side lawns of the hotel,
In the winter, the log fire makes for a cosy atmosphere with the restaurant seating a maximum of 45 guests.
The Roxburghe Room

Seating up to 16 guests around a large dining table, The Roxburghe Room overlooks the beautiful gardens and benefits from a log fire in the winter months..
