FISHING at ROXBURGHE
As a 'centre of excellence' for fishing The Roxburghe Estate has four fishing beats on the River Tweed and River Teviot - renowned for some of the best salmon fishing in Scotland. Fishing is from the bank with no catch and release policy. Ghillies and equipment hire can be provided by prior arrangement.
An introductory lesson on Fly Fishing by Eoin Fairgrieve, (world team Spey Casting champion and our resident expert), is a must for guests at The Roxburghe Hotel. Eoin is a qualified fly casting instructor and a member of the Advanced Association of Game Angling Instructors, with 17 years of experience.
The Roxburghe Trout Pond is within the hotel grounds. Regularly stocked with rainbow trout, sizes range from 1 lb to 5 lb. Roxburghe Estate is acknowledged as a centre of excellence for angling and Eoin's enthusiasm for fishing will be a lasting influence!
SHOOTING at ROXBURGHE
The Roxburghe specialised in clay pigeon shooting. Administered by Alistair Ferguson (CPSA Senior Instructor in Sporting, Skeet and Traps), our shooting school offers many different disciplines ranging from driven grouse to springing teal and high pheasant.
As a 'centre of excellent' the Roxburghe will introduce novices to the art of clay shooting while the enthusiast can enjoy lessons tailored to their own levels of shooting knowledge and experience.
GOLF at ROXBURGHE
The Roxburghe offers the best golfing experience in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland region. The Roxburghe Championship Golf Course is for many players the perfect golfing challenge. The Duke of Roxburghe, an avid golfer, commissioned Dave Thomas to build this challenging course on his estate which was opened in 1997.
Colin Montgomery said when opening the Roxburghe course with Nick Faldo, "I was impressed with the design and the quality of The Roxburghe. The Greens were immaculate and the course picturesque, a pleasure to play for professional and amateur alike".

HORSE RIDING at ROXBURGHE
No country life experience would be complete without the excitement of a cross country hack through the heather or cantering across the white beaches of Northumberland.
Nenthorn Equestrian Centre is just 15 minutes from The Roxburghe Hotel and offer introductory lessons or tailored tuition for experienced riders.
